Stinker is a cute little skunk pet that does more than just look cute in World of Warcraft. If you’ve been playing WoW for a while, you’ll probably have noticed that Blizzard, the company behind this MMORPG, has put in all sorts of hints to movies, and stories, and real life persons.
When you have engineering as one of your professions, you’ll have to speak to either Zebig or Lebowsky, depending on whether your character is a member of the Horde or the Alliance. Would you like to purchase the biggest bags in the game? Then head over to Paris, sorry Haris Pilton. You’ll find this styled-up blood elf vendor in the bar called “The World’s End Tavern” in Shattrath City.
A Pulp Fiction inspired quest is named “Zedd’s Probably Dead”, and if you look around in the game, you’ll find more of these subtle hints.
Stinker is no exception to this rule. He is actually modelled over an old cartoon character by the name of Pepe Le Pew. Pepe Le Pew was a French skunk created by Warner Brothers. He would always fall in love with a black cat, who happened to get a white stripe down it’s back, often by paint. Pepe would then mistake the cat for another skunk.
In-game, Stinker is also known for his strange attraction to black cats.
You Get Stinker as an Achievement Reward
If you collect pets in WoW, you’ll receive several achievements. One of the first will probably be the “Can I Keep Him” achievement. You receive it, when you obtain your first companion pet. The next achievement in this series is called “Plenty of Pets”, and you get this for having 15 unique companions.
After that one, and if you keep collecting, you’ll get the “Plethora of Pets” for 25 non-combat pets. Right now, you can get 149 different pets, but you’ll get your next achievement for only a third, namely 50 pets. This achievement is called “Shop Smart, Shop Pet…Smart”, and when you’ve obtained it, you’ll receive a reward in your mailbox.
The reward is the “Reeking Pet Carrier”, and when you open it up, you’ll find Stinker inside. In case you wonder, yes, there are more pet achievements after this one. If you collect 75 pets, you’ll get “Lil’ Game Hunter”, and a cute fawn as a reward. And that should be easy now, with 149 pets available.
